FORK YOKE, BOTTOM
NOS
FOR NARROW FORKS USED ON 1967 B44R, C25 & B25 - CAN ALSO BE USED ON C15C FRAMED BIKES AND THE B44E AND B44EA MODELS - SEE BELOW
.
THIS BOTTOM CLAMP IS IDENTICAL TO 40-5111 EXCEPT THE TWO POSTS THAT STAND UP OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE YOKE WERE SAWED OFF THE CASTING BY BSA. BOTH TYPES CONTACT THE FORK STOP ON THE FRAME IN THE SAME PLACE - ON THE MAIN BODY OF THE BOTTOM YOKE. WE SUPPOSE THAT THE UPRIGHT POSTS WERE AN ADDITIONAL MEASURE TO MAKE THE FORK STOP MORE ROBUST FOR THE DIRT BIKE ORIENTED FORKS. DON'T KNOW WHY BSA DECIDED THEY NEEDED TO SAW THE POSTS OFF? IF TRULY USED OFF ROAD WHERE LAYING THE BIKE DOWN IS A POSSIBILITY, ALL OF THE BSA MODELS NEED TO HAVE THE FORK STOP ON THE FRAME BEEFED UP AND INCREASED IN SURFACE AREA WHERE THE BOTTOM YOKE HITS IT. THIS IS TRUE FROM C15s UP TO THE B50s.
